The colonial period was a time when colonialists controlled almost all of Indonesia. whose aim was none other than to control trade routes and to seize Indonesia's natural wealth, including spices. The colonial existence was detrimental to the Indonesian government, including Kwandang Regency at that time, which justified all means to explore Indonesia's natural wealth for the betterment of the nation and state itself. This research aims to find out people's lives and social conditions that occurred in Kwandang District during the Dutch Colonial period 1870-1891. The method used in this research is the historical method. The steps include Heuristics (gathering sources), Source Criticism, Interpretation (verifying data) and heuristics (writing history). Primary source The results of the research indicate that investigations into the mining industry in Sulawesi in 1886 found two gold producing areas, namely Soemalata and Kwandang Districts, which had been mined by residents in depth so that native resources could be accessed and gold ore could be obtained. collected and then washed by native people (natives).
